One of the ways you can speed up your windows xp computer is by removing autostart programs from your computer. To do this, I recommend getting this tool called “AutoRuns for Windows v8.73” and installing it on your computer.
Now Basically this tool give you the option of all programs, services that are auto starting when your computer is booting up. Just because it give you the whole list, doesn’t mean you can disable everything. Only disable programs that you are aware of and you are 100% sure you don’t need them.
For example, on my windows xp machine, I disabled the following services -
- Acrobat Assistant 8.0
- CTDVDDET - Adobe Version Cue CS3
- Language Application for For PowerDVD
- QuickTime Task
- PowerDVD RemoteControl
- Sonic Update Manager
- Windows Messenger (I don’t use msn at all)
- Bonjour Services from Apple
- RichVideo Module (cyberlink)
**Please be careful with this tool because if not used with care, you can cause many services to fail on your computer. I only dealt with programs that I installed myself and didn’t really see a need for them to run as the computer was booting up.
