After years of sticking with Cingular (now ATT), we as a family have decided to move on and go with Verizon Wireless. Why the move, well we get this feeling that believe ATT is ripping us off. The bill has so many extra charges and we are getting around $150 every month for 3 phone lines for 1400 monthly minutes. Overtime, they keep adding fees and we went from paying around $110 with Cingular to $150 for new ATT. Also, the article that talks about ATT collecting information on all its network allowed me to make the move quickly. I am sure Verizon is doing the same.
The move allowed us all to get new (shiny) phones. I am glad that we are allowed to take our numbers with us now and go with any company.
We ordered 3 phones and the total came out to be $150 (including tax). Order one MOTOKRZR K1m and 2 Samsung SCH-u540. The Samsung one came with a nice deal where if you buy one, you get another one for free. So that worked out really well but what sucked was they charged us tax on the original pricing of the phone. Our phones are worth around $670 something and we ended up paying $50 tax. We have to wait 2-3 days for the phone to be delivered and I am looking forward to it because I am tired of my ugly phone that I bought back in 2001.
I’ll update this post after 1 or 2 months and hopefully verizon will not act the same way as ATT.

Update 1 - They are already ported the number from ATT to Verizon and phones are on their way. Phones are being shipped by FedEx and they should be here by Tuesday. Lesson learned when ordering order on a Monday or a Tuesday. I placed the order on Friday and have to wait now due to weekend. I always tell myself to never do that again but hopefully this is the last time.
update 2 - Well I got all 3 phones for my family members and so far things are smooth. Had few problems with activation but that was just a minor thing. One thing that I am really disappointed about is that verizon decided to remove all games from the phone. You have to pay for everything. It’s like a advertisement phone that is filled with vcast ads. With my old cingular phone (now ATT), I had access to everything but with verizon everything is locked by verizon.
